Long Hike

The work is acrylic interior latex satin paint on stained birch plywood. I spend a lot of time in the woods. Hiking. Thinking. Admiring the vertical patterns left by trees and the way nature frames our vision. I draft these abstract representations of nature on my tablet, playing with light and shadow, positive and negative space, and the integrity of abstract shapes when held together can create a recognizable space and atmosphere. I then paint the shapes onto stained treated birch plywood.
