Jasmyn Marie (b. 1989) is a Southern California native who specializes in flower preservation & transforms dried flowers into unique pieces of art. She has spent the last several years growing into her own artistic style, which captures & highlights the curvature of the dried stems giving the illusion of movement in the resin. Her style is considered botanical art with elements of contemporary craft and mixed media. Jasmyn often emphasizes the delicate beauty of dried flowers encapsulated in resin, often creating ethereal, nature-inspired compositions. Her work focuses on preserving the natural beauty and form of the flowers, lending a sense of movement and romanticism to each piece.
StatementI love capturing the details of everyday nature that most people do not see. My subject matter being flowers, and I enjoy being able to provide a lasting representation that goes beyond fresh flowers. My inspiration stems from the meaning behind flowers, and what they mean culturally/represent universally. Flowers, no matter where you are located, are a form of gesture expressing emotions and sentiments. Often, they are associated with affection, celebration, sympathy and even apologies. Additionally, some historical artwork that inspires me includes Baroque and Dutch paintings and gothic architecture, I create my artwork using dried flowers and casting them into black epoxy. I encourage my viewers to explore my work up close to appreciate the intricacies of nature on a deeper level.
