Ce?cile Roberfroid, a French/
American abstract painter, found
solace and inspiration in art amidst
her nomadic upbringing across
countries like Niger, Yemen, and
Congo. Her diverse experiences
shaped her outlook and fueled her
creativity, infusing her work with a
dynamic and deeply personal
essence.
After earning her Bachelor of Fine
Arts from the School of Visual Arts,
she pursued further education with
Master's degrees in Psychology and
Art Therapy. This multidisciplinary
background deepened her
understanding of human emotions
and the therapeutic potential of
artistic expression.Her education
had a profound impact on the
development of her intuitive
abstract painting.
In her artwork, Ce?cile delves into
the depths of human emotions,
using abstract art as a means of

authentic expression for feelings
that are often challenging to
articulate. Each brushstroke
becomes a conduit for emotions,
forging a connection that
transcends verbal communication.
Through her work, she strives to
create a visual language that
speaks directly to the soul, inviting
viewers to embark on their own
introspective journeys.

navigate unfamiliar environments.
From her early years, when she
found herself in an American school
not speaking a word of English, art
became her sanctuary—a universal
language that transcends linguistic
barriers and offers solace in times of
uncertainty.
Driven by her experiences as an art
therapist, Ce?cile firmly believes in
the transformative power of creative
expression. Witnessing the healing
and self-expression facilitated by art
therapy has reinforced her
conviction. Influenced by her
wandering upbringing, Ce?cile's
artistic journey is characterized by a
relentless pursuit of self-expression
and emotional exploration.
Through her art, Ce?cile Roberfroid
seeks to bridge the gap between
people and emotions, transforming
the intangible into something
tangible. Her artistic process is free

and intuitive, focusing on the
expression of raw emotions and

encouraging viewers to find their
own meanings. Abstraction mirrors
soul intricacies, while color ignites
visceral responses, guiding
introspective journeys.

As an artist, I find solace in the language of emotions; my paintings serve as mirrors to my personal stories and inner feelings. They depict a journey of self-discovery, where I immerse myself in the art-making process. Through my art, I find my voice, one that I hope resonates with my audiences, inviting them to embark on their own emotional and personal explorations.
Each artwork becomes a dialogue—an outcome of an expressive and intuitive process that guides me, rather than me controlling it. I allow the paint, its movements, colors, and design to lead, reflecting my emotional state in the moment. This expressive journey becomes the vehicle for both my personal growth and the evolution of my artistic expression.
I'm drawn to oil paints for their inherent attributes: vibrant pigments, rich textures, and depth. With oil paints, I can layer, manipulate, and weave narratives—painting thick or thin, concealing or revealing. These layers of paint form a history, leaving behind fragments of information that tell the tale of a creative journey.
Essentially, my choice of oil paints goes beyond materials—it is a deliberate choice of a medium that enables me to convey a multi-faceted narrative. Layered history, subtle marks, and pigment all interplay to form a visual language that embodies the depth of my artistic expression.
